Competence, flexibility and local expertise, highly recommended

We decided to a do a hike out of Leh, Ladakh in early May 2023. I looked at a number of companies with my plan in mind and of all of them only Trekmunk were communicative and flexible enough to help me plan and create the right hike for me and my group of friends (7 people traveling in from all over the world). We planned to Hike Nubra valley, but understood it was too early in the season to be sure of success so arranged Markha valley as a back up plan. Snowfall when we arrived put our plans in more doubt, so the night we arrived in Leh we met up with our guides for a chat to discuss what was possible. Eventually after a lovely meal and some laughs we agreed to try Marhka (again with the caveat that it may not be possible) but that the adventure would be in the attempt anyway and depending on our success it could be a 5 or a 6 day hike. We love flexibility and the ability to change plans as we go, so agreed happily. Our guide, Stenzing, was outstanding, super tough, decent English, very funny and quickly became part our group. His support team brought food and a mess tent while we carried our own tents and gear. They were all lovely and the food was fantastic, they even managed to bake a cake on the last day while up in the mountains without a proper kitchen! The valley is beautiful, a large high altitude desert heading up into alpine meadows, small galciers, frozen rivers and snowy passes. Snowfall on the 3rd night meant the pass was out of reach but we instead stayed in our great camp site and did some other off the beaten path hikes around the area anyway before heading back to Leh.This is a great company, I have planned multiple hikes over the years and cannot stress enough that 3 things are key, competence, flexibility and local expertise, these guys have all three, and can be trusted. They also managed to come in at a very attractive price that covered everything including guides, support team, transport, food, mess tent, etc.I highly recommend them, and thanks so much for all your support Trekmunk!
