This was my second time in The Monk. I visited after a gap of 6 years. And to my delight, the stay was as lovely as before, and so were the people there.
Rooms: Last time I visited, we stayed in Swiss tents, which were super comfortable. This time around, we loved the mud huts. They were clean, spacious, comfortable and with spectacular views. The toilets are clean, with good water heaters.
Service: If the rooms/cottages are a wonderful sight, the service is a star! You're made to feel at home, be it showing you around the vegetable garden and apple trees, or the random "chai peeyenge" chats in the kitchen. You're in for a good session of guest chronicles and local tales.
Food: Mr. Rawat, the care taker, or Rawat Uncle, as we fondly call him, was the strongest memory for me of this place. Despite of having countless guests over 6 years, he remembered me. He spins magic in his vast kitchen which he proudly shows you. And you know you're lucky when he ventures out in the garden to pluck some herbs to make soothing tea. He is the star of the property and I'll keep going back to the Monk just to have his apple curry and apple Paratha again.
Mr. Sushil Negi, who owns the place, personally visits every now and then and ensures you're well taken care of.
Himachal is known for its beauty, but the actual beauty is the people here.

I personally like the place a lot. It has become a go to spot for me because it's on a mountain surrounded by forest and not much far away from Delhi. The scenic view is breathtaking and absolutely amazing. You feel the beauty of the place just after coming there as you have to do a small Trek between mountains to reach there. The hosts are quite welcoming, especially a lady named Apeksha Jain whom I met when I first went there. She was really hospitable and made us feel at home. The food there is really tasty, especially hung curd sandwich and orange juice. The place is quiet and rustic with a traditional mountain village vibe.Rooms: The rooms have a traditional village kind of vibe.Nearby activities: One can go to a small trek from the hostel and the view there is breathtaking.Food & drinks: The food is really tasty, especially hung curd sandwich and orange juice.
